Vacheron Constantin has always been synonymous with timeless elegance and precise craftsmanship. Their latest creation, the Traditionnelle Tourbillon, is no exception, combining tradition and contemporary aesthetics in a beautifully designed timepiece.

The Traditionnelle Tourbillon is presented in a 41 mm-diameter platinum case that exudes an aura of majesty. What sets this watch apart is its striking sunburst green dial, a color achieved through a unique galvanic treatment. This deep green hue adds depth and intensity to the watch, casting a vivid contrast against the gleaming 950 platinum case. The white gold baton-style hour markers and Dauphine-style hands further enhance this contrast, creating a harmonious visual symphony. To complete the ensemble, a deep green strap was chosen to match the dial color.

Christian Selmoni, Director of Style and Heritage at Vacheron Constantin, explains that “The Traditionnelle collection embodies the full measure of Vacheron Constantin’s watchmaking legitimacy. It conveys both history and tradition through precise stylistic codes corresponding to an aesthetic that remains timeless, however complex the mechanisms. With this new dial color, Vacheron Constantin is pursuing its contemporary vision of the classical approach to design.”

What truly makes the Traditionnelle Tourbillon remarkable is not just its aesthetics but also the technical prowess within. This watch boasts an ultra-thin self-winding in-house Calibre 2160/1, measuring a mere 5.65 mm in thickness. Achieving this level of slenderness is a testament to Vacheron Constantin’s technical mastery.

The Calibre 2160/1 incorporates a tourbillon regulator mechanism designed to counteract the effects of gravity on the balance-spring’s isochronism. Operating at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz), this relatively slow tempo provides an opportunity to admire the tourbillon’s mechanical ballet through the sapphire crystal caseback. Furthermore, a peripheral rotor is integrated into the movement, ensuring a comfortable 80-hour power reserve while reducing the thickness of the calibre.

The movement’s finish reflects a dedication to perfection, with a circular-grained baseplate on the dial side and hand-bevelled bridges adorned with Côtes de Genève on the caseback. The tourbillon, with its Maltese cross-shaped carriage bearing small seconds indicated by a blackened screw, is another testament to the meticulous attention to detail.

In essence, the Traditionnelle Tourbillon is a perfect bridge between classic aesthetics and contemporary design, a testament to Vacheron Constantin’s enduring commitment to excellence in watchmaking.
