Thinking of Haute Couture always brings up to mind the French designers and Italian halls, but there is one Lebanese designer, who seduces the gaze with elegant and refined silhouettes, his name: Elie Saab. Today, the homonymous brand offers a new concept that goes above and beyond standard fashion, presented in the form of interior design. The sheer elegance, exclusivity and timelessness in the collection reflect Saab’s DNA.
Elie Saab and Corporate Brand Maison partnered up to create this project, which was presented at Milan’s Fashion Week, and promptly opened their first showroom in the city, located in the intersection between Via S. Andrea and Via della Spiga. In this marvellous room one can contemplate the new design alternatives proposed by Elie Saab Maison, conceived specifically for each different moment of the day.
Elie Saab and Italian architect Carlo Colomb developed the creative concept together. Colombo rediscovered the inspiration, materials colours and shapes that usually mark Saab’s creative proves and managed to bring them down to the interior design world. Each piece represents the core essence of Elie Saab’s work masterfully as a result.
With a meticulously curated material selection, brass shines above the rest, while ebony, maple and eucalyptus compose most of the woodwork; Calacatta marble and Patagonia granite take centre stage in the table designs. Leather and velvet are the preferred textiles in the collection, and prime wool and bamboo silk make up the precious carpets, woven by Maison Sahrai, an atelier with the utmost care for the Persian tradition since 1830. Lighting fixtures are also prominent, taking inspiration form the early 1950’s minimalism and nature itself, a trait easily visible in the Narcisse chandelier. The whole collection reminds subtly of Art Deco, enriched through the years, iconic and timeless.
Mirror walls, oak parquet of Hungarian installation and Brise Screen rotating screens, which can be altered to go with each season’s aesthetics, are adorned with a wide variety of decorative accessories such as throw pillows, blankets, lighting fixtures, carpets and plaids created at prime Italian ateliers. With this modularity Saab presents a double collection, one for the daytime, one for the night.
Soft and elegant lines converge with delicate textures and prints in sofas, dinner tables and chairs in cream, grey and blue which contrast the burgundy and gold in the side tables. Everything is rounded up with three beading options, a vale de nuit, mirrors and other complementary accessories. An Exclusive, tailor-made line is also available with fully customizable materials.
Some extras offered by Elie Saab Maison include the Diamond sculpture, an exquisite chandelier covered in fine Murano crystals, which present a beautiful light spectacle; and a Light Pillar lamp, fit for floor and table formats, and which echoes the atmosphere’s effect on light.
Elie Saab Maison is ideal for those looking for luxury as a lifestyle and those who appreciate each detail of interior design. Sure to satisfy the most demanding people, withe whole line is elaborated with high quality materials, design, and details and is soon to be available at Beirut, Dubai, Moscow and Paris.
