Aman is delighted to unveil its newest gem, Amanvari, a tranquil and private sanctuary on Baja California’s East Cape, near the Gulf of California. Scheduled to open in 2024, it includes a hotel and private residences, taking its name from the Sanskrit words for “peace” and “water.” This oasis is surrounded by the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and a private beach. It’s a unique destination born from the contrast of desert and sea, with a history of a former hacienda where horses roamed freely. Amanvari promises solitude in a serene desert landscape by the Gulf.

Irongate, a Los Angeles-based real estate firm, will oversee the development of Amanvari. This marks Aman’s maiden venture in Mexico and is part of the Costa Palmas private beachfront resort community, spanning 3 kilometers of swimmable beach. Collaborating with Aman, Irongate has enlisted the services of Heah & Co. architects, who have approached Amanvari’s design with the overarching objective of letting the surreal landscape take center stage.

Nestled between the sea and the mountains, each hotel pavilion at Amanvari will be akin to a serene island emerging from the expansive terrain, allowing the lush flora and fauna to flow uninterrupted beneath. These stilted structures, resting on slender legs, are in line with Aman’s design philosophy of ensuring that the destination informs the resort vision.

The resort features 20 bi-level hotel pavilions, each offering a generous expanse of both indoor and outdoor spaces. These pavilions will be scattered across the idyllic landscape and will feature floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto outdoor terraces and wraparound sundecks, some with cantilevered pools.

At the heart of Amanvari stands the main pavilion, an open-air atrium situated on the beach. This pavilion will serve as a hub where guests and residents can relish three restaurants, a library, a lounge, and a 30-meter infinity pool featuring four hot tubs. The Aman Spa pavilion will be located just steps away from the main pavilion, accessible via a shaded pathway and nestled in the heart of the site.

For those seeking a more permanent Aman lifestyle, a limited release of 24 whole-ownership Aman Residences will be available. Situated on the dunes, with sweeping vistas of the Sea of Cortez, some facing the adjacent golf course, or amid the organic farms, the Aman Residences collection comprises four- to seven-bedroom options spanning from 1,207 to 1,858 square meters of covered indoor-outdoor living space.

Reflecting the Amanvari design aesthetic, Heah & Co. will design the Aman Residences, in collaboration with the families choosing Amanvari as their home. Residence homeowners will work directly with Heah & Co. to customize their version of the Aman Residence, which may include a combination of pavilions for bedrooms, a theatre, fitness facilities, a yoga space, or a casual family room.

Vladislav Doronin, Aman’s Chairman and CEO, emphasizes their commitment to evolving the brand and offering guests new experiences. The choice of Baja Peninsula for Amanvari as their first Mexican destination highlights their dedication to distinctive architectural resorts and the promise of a cultural and spiritual adventure. The unique natural beauty of the East Cape highlights the opportunity to create an architectural masterpiece by the Sea of Cortez, welcoming Aman to the collection of international brands at Costa Palmas.

Amanvari is part of the Costa Palmas master plan, which includes a golf course, organic farms, and the exclusive Costa Palmas Beach & Yacht Club. It’s a short drive from Los Cabos Airport, offering a unique escape with pristine beaches, remote mountain trails, and various outdoor activities like whale diving and fishing. Guests at Amanvari can experience a tranquil side of Mexico away from crowded tourist spots.

Privacy is the ultimate luxury. Aman creates sanctuaries that provide guests and residents with the feeling they desire solitude, a sense of being away from it all, while still belonging. Tucked away in a remote corner of the thousand-acre development where the sea, the wild desert, and farmland meet, Aman is part of Costa Palmas, yet geographically and elementally distinct from it. Wild and natural, it envelops guests and residents in their private sanctuary. The silence. The stillness. The quiet is all around, except for perhaps the whisper of palm leaves in the gentle breeze and the allure of the Sea of Cortez just beyond the windows.
